The exhibition is part of the graduation campaign ‘The Ink, the Milk, the Blood’ of the Photography department of the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague.
38 international KABK photography students present the exhibition ‘The Power of the Single Image’ in Melkweg Expo and put themselves on the map as independent artists. Visitors will get the chance to dive into the young photographers' world and discover their motivations and the power one single image can have.
As the title of the exhibition suggests, students explore the power a single image can have. Being part of a group, every photographer has limited space to display his or her work in the exhibition and is forced to choose one image that symbolises their statement and the rest of their creative process. Melkweg Expo will be filled with the most powerful images of all of the students’ projects: an explosion of strong images, which are the result of searching for aesthetics, meaning and a perfect image.
During the exhibition opening, on Friday, May 19th at 19:00 visitors get an exclusive sneak preview of the photography students’ graduation work. This preview has been created in collaboration with design studio Lennarts & de Bruijn (alumni Graphic Design Max Lennarts & Menno de Bruijn) and combines 'the single image' with a statement by its creator. In addition, there is a chance to buy exclusive prints selected by Robert Jan Verhagen (LhGWR) and Fleurie Kloostra; a unique opportunity to buy work from the new generation of photographers and support their graduation campaign!
