How to apply

Master Non-Linear Narrative

Applications are open!

This master programme starts in September 2017. Interested applicants should preferably have a background in graphic design with a graphic design bachelor to prove that. Students from other disciplines with a demonstrated interest in and knowledge of design (for example architecture, film or journalism) - are welcome to apply. Where necessary, admitted students from other disciplines are offered a Clinic - a crash course in a specific field - to acquire, for example, the necessary proficiency in programming.

General requirements

In order to apply for the master’s Fine Arts & Design Non-Linear Narrative at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague, candidates 

  • must hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 
  • be proficient in both spoken and written English

Specific requirements

Students are invited to send the following files through WeTransfer to

  • Digital portfolio and
  • Artistic statement of 150 – 400 words


A team of teachers and students will look at the level of theoretical knowledge, writing skills, current design practice, multimedia knowledge and programming, the level of visualisation and knowledge of design and software of every applicant. Selected candidates will be invited to an admission interview (live or through Skype) with the heads of the department and one or two other teachers of the master's programme.
